After painting April Showers, I wanted to expand on the idea with a mom and two daughters walking in the rain for this watercolor.
Those that know me may recognize the inspiration. ❤
The Easter bunny brought a yellow umbrella with pink flamingos on it to Grandma’s house for Grandie Girl 1, and she is such a good big sister to Grandie Girl 2. They both (and I) adore their Mommy!
So this one is in honor of them as well as all mothers of daughters and grandmas of granddaughters. It makes my heart smile.
The flowers and trees are just bursting right now during the Spring rains and sunshine creating such inspiration.
It was so wonderful to spend a few hours painting and printing and framing and organizing supplies in my art room. Treasured, cherished, creative time…. at life in between.
We are expecting April showers today.
That’s okay, because they will be bringing May flowers.
The daffodils and hyacinths and forsythia are already painting a bright and beautiful Spring.
I woke up early yesterday and felt like painting, but didn’t know what to paint. Scrolling through Pinterest, I found some lovely art done by Antigoni Tziora of Greece. This artist uses oil, acrylic, and watercolor mediums to create romantic figurative work. I tried recreating one in just watercolor, and this is what resulted. I’d like to try more experimenting with this. It was a fun practice to do.
Wishing you showers of joy, love, peace, and happiness!
The daffodils in my yard are shooting up and on the verge of bursting open.
Spring is such an exciting time! It seems there is something new to see every day. Bright yellow daffodils will soon be the star of the show in our front yard leading the way for the forsythia and maple tree buds and leaves and the grass turning green.
Charlie is enjoying napping in the warm sunshine on the deck or in the grass instead of curling up in bed.
The birds are singing and the turkeys are gobbling.
What could be more enchanting and welcoming than the beginning of Spring?
Besides the turning of leaves in Autumn….
or the first snowfall in Winter….
or the first bare feet in the grass in Summer?
In honor of the daffodils, I painted this very loose and dreamy watercolor I call, “Essence of Daffodils.”
If you like it, the original, as well as prints and cards are available in our McKinneyX2Designs Etsy shop, and I’ve added it to our Society6 shop on pillows and other fun decor and accessories. If you are local, you can find our work at Berry Vine Gifts in BradfordWoods, PA.

Getting Ready.
My DIL and “biz partner,” Colleen, and I have been busy getting ready for an event this coming weekend for McKinneyX2Designs – the Mars Craft Show.
For those of you not from Mars :), it’s really a bigger event than you can imagine, and we are fortunate to be a part of it!
Colleen is been busy making these adorable little trees and festive holiday signs.
While I’ve been busy painting
Dancing Penguin Watercolor 11×14
and printing
and folding
and boxing.
We are excited to share our joy! The Mars Craft Show features hundreds of local artisans spread out between the Mars Middle School and Mars High School (where you can find us – in the Auxilliary Gym). A shuttle bus runs all day between the two buildings between 10am and 4pm on Saturday, November 17, 2018.
In addition to this event, we have two special birthdays coming up for a Pap Pap and granddaughter who share the same birthday. I also have a short overnight business trip this week, so a lot going on.
I’m going to take a few days off from blogging, so if you don’t hear from me, know I am just busy and having fun and will be back soon.
If you like what you see here and are local, we hope you will visit us at the Mars Craft Show or Christmas in the Woods at Berry Vine Gifts this weekend. If you are not local, please visit our Etsy shop or our website for more information.
