Our southern-exposed deck always welcomes potted geraniums in the summer time. ย They flourish in the heat and sunshine, and they flower prolifically all summer long until the first nip of Autumn’s frost.
I love the pop of bright color they add to all the beautiful browns and greens in our surrounding woods the deck overlooks.
Here’s a quick little 5×7 splash of watercolor potted geraniums inspired by my view on the deck for today’s #WorldWatercolorMonth painting.
Happy Day!
Cheers & Hugs,
Jodi
I had a potted geranium in one of my apartments way back when for the longest time…always a welcome bit of color. You’ve captured it! (K)

Oh PJ – this was such a quickie like 5-10 minute splash. I don’t know if you’d even be able to tell they are geraniums if I wouldn’t have already put it in your “cranium” from the title! LOL! ๐

I think you’ve found the balance between loose and too-loose! Not an easy subject, but you’ve captured their essence and the colors you’ve chosen are beautiful. Again, wonderful splatter to top off this sketch! Well done, JodiArtistaNistaSista! โค

I adore this so much! you did an outstanding job, I can’t tell you how much I love it. Love the dots of color and that leaf on the bottom right makes me want your painting! And then that leaf in the bottom middle, my second favorite leaf….”almost there” leaf is out of this world. Jodi, this is my ultimate favorite of what I have seen of yours…..how do you do your splatter? is it the usual way or do you have your own technique? Love it!

Wow Margaret – so strange as this is such a quickie, and I almost didn’t even post it thinking it was not even worth it. To hear it is your ultimate favorite of mine is just so crazy! ๐ Thanks Margaret – I’m so humbled – don’t know what to say…

Oh my….I am so glad that you did! you are like me, I often can’t see my own work correctly. I have almost not posted a few posts, and it turns out to be the best. Believe me, your painting is so beautiful and the fact that you quickly painted it is part of that beauty, off the “artist cuff” so to speak. ๐

That’s so lovely! I have a geranium plant under a living room window in the backyard.
I too love the pop of color they give the yard, and how hearty they are. It just keeps on giving and growing with not much attention from me. I don’t even water it. The drip system takes care of that! I haven’t tried a geranium in a pot.

I love red geraniums too. Sadly they are only an annual around here, but a painting of some would make them live year round, like yours! So pretty!

You did a great job with the geraniums! I love those flowers, too, as they are one of the few that do well on our patio. It gets full sun throughout the summer, and that’s hard on a lot of other flowers. Love your paintings!
