Be a Sunflower.
Be a sunflower
on a cold winter day…
A burst of sunlight
when the clouds are heavy and gray.
Grow in places
people never thought possible.
Have a sturdy stalk and soft petals…
be wild and unstoppable.
Cheers & Hugs,
Jodi
This little poem was inspired by a birthday bouquet of flowers from hubby.Β Β As I gazed at them sitting bright and beautiful on the kitchen table despite the bitter cold and gray just inches away through the window, I realized we can all be bright and sturdy and soft and wild and unstoppable no matter what we or others think is or is not possible.Β So let’s be a sunflower today.
Very uplifting Jodi. Thanks for sharing. Luv Gary

That beautiful sunflower is sure a bright start to this freezing fog day! (Well it’s still night out here in Oregon, but soon enough, lol!)

Pssst, your Buttered Pecan cookie dough has been made and is in the fridge as we speak! I got off my night shift early today, the holiday rush is winding down. I think it’s a perfect treat to make in the middle of the night, lol!

Woohoo! And I made your soup yesterday but got sick somehow and didn’t end up eating dinner. Ugh. But hubby loved it. Can’t wait to try!

Yes – not feeling myself at all. I did try some of the stoup for lunch today and LOVE LOVE LOVE it! Don’t feel much like eating dinner now, but I sure enjoyed it. So full flavored! I first made my own beef stock, which I think really added to the rich flavor. I may have added a bit more veggies and meat too to make it extra hearty! WINNER for sure! If all of your recipes are this amazing, I better be trying more!!! Can’t wait to hear how the butter pecan cookies turn out. I want to make more now. π

The cookies came out fantastic, yay! And I’m so glad you enjoyed the beef barley too! I’m bringing a couple dozen of the cookies to my last-night-of-work potluck tonight. π

Donβt forget to stand tall and face the sun. There is a sunflower field in Avon, Ohio. See the link below for more information.

Who can not be cheered by a Sunflower!?! Beautiful thoughts inspired by one amazing flower. Did you know that there are 1000- 2000 individual flowers in each Sunflower head? Have you ever noticed their tracking of the sun’s movements, called heliotropism? Sunflowers are not just beautiful, but fascinating…to me. Thank-you!
